Liquid City book signing - SOLD OUT!

Today paper's coverage on Channelnewsasia website (click link below):

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/entertainmentfeatures/view/392061/1/.html

Excitement is high for the book signing at Kinokuniya. Aside from the supporters of various artists, there are comic fans who gathered to get their hands on signed copies of "Liquid City Anthology". If ever there is a moment in Singapore comic history, this is one of them.

Troy Chin, Drewscape, Gary Choo, Kenfoo, Leong Wan Kok, Hu Jingxuan, Lefty, FSc, Chin Sau Lim, Michael Chuah, Koh Hong Teng and myself were present to sign each book on Saturday. Sonny Liew, editor and Eisener-nominated comic artist, headed the team. Celebrity supporters include Miel, Lim Chengtju and Morgan Chua.

We sold out all of Kinokuniya's stock that day.

Then it's off to Black Earth Art Museum, where Sonny and Hong Teng join 2 other illustrators for a unique comic art exhibition called "Half Flat", sponsored by National Arts Council.

29th Nov 2008 is a most memorable day for SE Comics indeed!

Liquid City anthology OUT NOW!

Update: Book signing at Kinokuniya (3rd floor Ngee Ann City)
2pm - 4pm

This will be the only opportunity in Singapore when you can get signatures of this groundbreaking comic anthology from many of the artists involved. As there is limited stock of the book brought in, don't miss this book signing!
Each book costs $41.99 (if I remember correctly)

I received my complementary copy of "Liquid City", published by Image (that's the publisher of Spawn). Besides amazing works by Ken Foo, Troy Chin, Koh Hong Teng etc etc, it's also edited lovingly by Sonny Liew. This marks a couple of 'firsts' for me:

1. First time my comic work is featured in an American publication!
2. First time my work is featured alongside my childhood idol Lat's work!

Here's a little video I made to celebrate:

There are TWO BOOK SIGNINGS:

29th Nov - Singapore Kinokuniya at Takashimaya

14th Dec - Kuala Lumpur Kinokuniya

Be there to get your historical document signed by Sonny Liew and some of the featured artists.

And on a totally trivial but fun note, my Jack Russell's five kids appeared on Sunday's newspaper. Their owner (not me) sent the pictures to Straits Times.

So so proud. Heehee.

Liquid City - a new Asian comic anthology!

(Above) A page from "Alpha Gorilla" by Otto Fong

Thanks to my friend Sonny Liew, quite a few Singaporean comic artists will get a chance to see their works showcased in an upcoming anthology by American comic giant Image.

My short story, Alpha Gorilla, will also be included! This is a preview of my ultimate masterpiece - a reworking of the Monkey King mythology. After a few years of nurturing my Sir Fong's Adventures (more updates soon!), I will turn my attention towards this dream graphic novel project of mine. As you can see, it's style is more adult-oriented and realistic.

Titled Liquid City Anthology, the publication features many talented comic artists from Asia.
The quality of the artwork and stories are very high, and heralds a new age and standard in our quest to be recognised as international comic artists. The anthology will be available to all markets in November 2008!

You can see the preview pages here:

One distinctly Singaporean short story is by Koh Hong Teng. His story (sample page above) about an aging puppet master during the Hungry Ghost Festival is 100% Singaporean, and has captured my heart since he first suggested it!
