Before the cool new Parade Square popped up, we stood on the Astro Turf in front of the podium. The announcements were read on the second floor, and there was a circular opening where Mr Lim lurked (haha, what a word to use). The announcements were lots some days - what with the prodigous amount of battles our students fight every day - so we'd stand there till the morning sun scaled the HDB flats and graze our faces. And although our faces glowed in the dawning light, our Asian eyes grew even smaller (squinting mah).
I created this farewell card for him cos he was such a BIG target for all my daily jokes. So, that was the last joke I could do of the big lug.
In Memory: King of Kowloon (Hong Kong)
Read in New Paper that a very famous Hong Kong graffitti artist passed away two weeks ago. I knew about him becos my favorite rap group Softhard (HK) used his artwork on their 1993 album.
The King of Kowloon's life was dedicated to his genius, madness and the singleminded pursuit of art at all cost. While I will not be bringing Sir Fong in that direction, I often ask myself the question: how much will I sacrifice for my passion? You can read more about him here:
