Introducing Tiger

Tiger is a character inspired by a student. He was born in the year of - no prize for guessing - and he joined the school one year later than his peers, so he's this big Tiger in the midst of a bunch of Bunnies. He is the largest boy in class, and has a big personality to match. A really good cartoonist too.

So, the bunnies' illegal experimentation with chemicals (see "Bunny Bubble Tea" Pt 1 to 3) landed them in the hospital. One bunny experiences a greater side effect than others . . .

Bunny Bubble Tea

Dun forget to click for a larger image!
This goes against everything ur chemistry teachers teach u, but do you really think that fruity soft drinks came from plants? Also, this blog just got hit more than 1000 times since 18 days ago. Thanks to all of u who visited! Please come back often!

This was originally intended as the cover design for the second print of Sir Fong 1.

Sir Fong loves Star Wars

There's classroom pranks, and there's staff room pranks. This is not really related to my Sir Fong comics, but the attitude is the same.

A lot of teachers are avid toy collectors, and I can have some fun to relief the monotony of looking stern and sourly. A hastily-painted pair of eyes, some sharp teeths and a few centimeters of adhesive tape later, a fellow teacher's cute lion is now doing monumental battle with a Star Wars transformer.

And the winner is . . . the fuuuur-o-cious king of the jungle!

And here's Star Wars-inspired piece. (It's real. I daydream about this often in class.)

Louder Than U

This is a flier for a workshop conducted jointly by Miel, Edmund Wee See Heng, and myself at National Museum in 2006. It's called Thunder Pens! The flier is designed by the talented people at Antfarm.

I have a big loud voice. Coupled with a bulldozer chin, I'm an unstoppable force of nature in class. As a new teacher, I deliver Science lessons with the subtlety of an Optimus Prime. Now I realised that a different kind of lesson delivery is more effective:

"Cos trust is what it's all about/My heart can't hear a word/When you scream and shout" - Love Me With Freedom by Sheena Easton

OK, so I learn some. But am still a Science Boom Box. Haha.

PS. U can click on the picture below for a larger version - cos then u can see the bunnies' expressions clearer.)

Sir Fong at National Museum

Last year, Sir Fong joins National Museum in their grand reopening festival!

And here's one comic strip that requires some basic appreciation of science (wait! don't switch off! Give it a try!):

Bunny In A Bottle

Bunny in a Bottle (right): this is a drawing by a student of my Killer Bunny. We were designing and launching soft drink pet bottle rockets (haha, 'pet' is so appropriate!) in the school field.

Below: Being a new teacher can be a stressful experience. I try to be cool, but the kids have a short cut to my heart. En route, they leave a bloody trail of destruction: broken limbs, slaughtered test tubes, kidnapped assignments etc.

Once there (your heart), they'll blow it up into little teenie weenie bits. Haha.
